The Uffizi is now one of the most renowned museums of the world. Cosimo Later moved his resisdence from the Palazzo Vecchio to the Pitti Palace. Here his son Ferdinand II founded the Palatina Picture Gallery as part of his private collection. Your tour will begin here. The tour will continue to the Medici’s Chapels, containing the family’s monumental tombs.
The walls and floors are entirely decorated with luxurious surfaces of rich marble and semi-precious stones. Statues, carvings and rich architectural details by Michelangelo abound in this setting.
